The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has warned private candidates sitting for this year’s West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) against engaging in examination malpractices as the law will grind anyone caught in the act. This is because any form of examination malpractice is inimical to the country’s development as its human resources would not be competent enough to meet its development needs. Mr Donald Tuor, the Upper West Regional Controller of WAEC, who gave the warning in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Wa, indicated that the Council was doing everything within its power…
Growing up, Nija Charles wanted to be a music producer or, as she puts it: “the female Pharrell”. But after falling into songwriting “by accident”, she’s now been nominated for a Grammy Awards. The huge US industry show has introduced a Songwriter of the Year prize – one of five new categories in 2022. “It just feels like a dream, because this is really big. This is history,” she tells BBC Newsbeat. “I feel this is long overdue. That’s why I thank all the songwriters who have fought for this to happen, because it only makes sense to have it.”…
Actor Brendan Fraser has said he will not attend Hollywood’s Golden Globe Awards next year after accusing their former president of assaulting him. The star, known for The Mummy movies, is tipped for awards success for his comeback film role in The Whale. In 2018, he said Philip Berk, head of Golden Globes organising body the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, had groped his bottom in 2003. Fraser has previously said the incident “made me retreat” and “feel reclusive”. The HFPA found that Mr Berk “inappropriately touched” Fraser, but that it “was intended to be taken as a joke and not…
Tickets to see Taylor Swift live in concert sold so swiftly the general public never even had a chance to buy. Ticketmaster, the company selling seats to the singer’s US tour, cancelled the public sale on Thursday, citing “extraordinarily high demands on ticketing systems and insufficient remaining ticket inventory”. It has already sold over two million tickets in pre-sales for select groups. The company has come under criticism after the demand crashed its website. “I got so close three or four times and the website broke. It was agonising,” said mum Nancy Abulmagd, one of the fans who had won…

Mr Fearnley-Whittingstall repeated a police appeal on social…
R. Kelly’s former manager has been sentenced to 20 months in prison for stalking and harassing one of the singer’s victims. Donnell Russell pleaded guilty in July to using threats and intimidation to silence one of the women Kelly abused. Using an alias, he published explicit photos of her online in an attempt to stop her testifying against his client. Kelly was ultimately convicted of sex trafficking and racketeering and sentenced to 30 years in prison. Prosecutors said Russell, a self-described manager, advisor and friend to Kelly, used “reprehensible” tactics against the unnamed victim and her mother, after she filed…

The contract which was made public initially was meant for KGL to take over the sales of lotto on USD…
