The Bank of Ghana has withdrawn foreign exchange support to customers for the importation of certain non-critical or essential goods. Joy Business however understands that the withdrawal of the FX support for the importation of these non-essential goods took effect in the past three weeks. The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has challenged Christian parents to be deliberate and consistent in raising family altars in their homes. The Cash Waterfall Mechanism (CWM) currently pays for only 20 percent of the power Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) buys from Independent Power Producers (IPPs). The remaining 80 percent keeps piling up, with outstanding payments to IPPs jumping from US$996million in September 2022 to US$1.2billion last October. The National Tripartite Committee in line with Section 113 (1) (a) of the Labour Act, 2003 (Act 651) has reviewed the National Daily Minimum Wage (NDMW) to GH₵14.88 pesewas. The new minimum wage will take effect from January 1, 2023. The Committee concluded on this new wage after a meeting held on Wednesday, November 16, 2022.
