The Chief Executive of the Ghana Library Authority, (GhLA) Hayford Siaw has asserted that the Ghana Library Authority has provided a mobile library van service to underserved schools and communities that have no access to a library. He said that although the vans available are not enough, 11 vans are currently working to support the outreach in rural communities as well as schools that have no access to the static library. The decision by the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta to cap the Ghana Stabilisation Fund at $100 million and the use of excess money from the Fund for other emergency purposes is taking a heavy toll on the fund, an assessment by the Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC) has revealed. At the end of the first half of 2022, the fund generated only $373 million, a situation PIAC is blaming on the capping. The ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) has signed a 10 million EUR loan agreement with ECO Oil of Burkina Faso. A statement issued by EBID and copied to the Ghana News Agency said the EBID short term loan facility will go to enhance the distribution of petroleum products to Burkina Faso and Niger, by ECO Oil’s sister companies. Economist Prof. Godfred Bokpin has expressed worry about the private sector being crowded out from the benefits of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). This is due to the unfavorable tax regime in the country. A Circuit Court in Sunyani presided by Justice Sylvester Nii Okai Ablorh, has sentenced a man and his son to five years imprisonment for engaging in child-trafficking. The convicts, Forkinya Northa, father and Theophilus Northa, son trafficked six minors to Yeji Abenwaa, a fishing community along the Volta Lake in the Bono East Region.
