The Head of Client Coverage at First National Bank Ghana, Richard Kokoih, has stressed the need for government to work closely with the private sector to reduce the country’s infrastructure deficit. A mining consultant has said that the government is only  pretending to fight illicit small scale mining (galamsey) in the country. According to Seth Worlasime, the measures against this particular trade has been heavily politicised by the government, a situation that defeats the move. In 2017, the government placed a two-year ban on all small-scale mining activities in the country in order to weed out the illicit ones. The Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC) has revealed that the cumulative indebtedness to the Ghana National Gas Company Limited (GNGC) has continued to increase to US$942,260,510.63. According to PIAC, this is as a result of the failure of GNGC’s customers to honour their obligations.
