The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mr James Oppong-Boanuh, has been urged to remain neutral and impartial before, during and after the December 7 elections. Private legal practitioner Godwin Edudzi Tameklo has said the refusal of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to implement the recommendations of the report by the Emile Short Commission regarding the violence that characterized the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election, is his biggest indictment. He noted that the report made several recommendations which when implemented would have dealt with some of the electoral violence seen in this country. Government statistician Professor Samuel Kobina Annim says the 2017/2018 census on agriculture has revealed that agricultural activities in the country remain rural and rudimentary. He alluded to the fact the absence of and low levels of education among agricultural holders is adversely affecting innovation and modernization. “Now that we have found out that four-fifth of people in agric do not have education, we should think about how we can structure some educational packages for those in the agricultural sector” Professor Annim said. Twenty nine ‘Western Togolanders’ who were arrested in connection with secessionism in the Volta region have been charged with treason felony. They are also facing five additional charges. These are conspiracy to commit crime, causing unlawful damage, rioting with weapons and participation in a campaign of a prohibited organization. Former President John Dramani Mahama has dared the Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu to investigate and prosecute him if he is convinced that he was the one described as Government Official One in the Airbus Bribery Scandal.
