The Bolga-Bawku highway is expected to be partially opened to traffic from Thursday, September 17 after the Brazilian construction firm Queiroz Galvao said it is partially done with the reconstruction of the road. The 116 kilometer Bolga–Bawku–Pulmakom was cut off, following the flooding and torrential rains in the area. Work began on Tuesday, September 15 with the contractors clearing and filling the damaged portions of the road with boulders, which are rock fragments with size greater than 256 millimetres in diameter. Parliament has not approved any decision to increase school fees for public universities in the country, Ranking Member of the Committee of Education in Parliament, Peter Nortsu-Kotoe, has said. He explained that last year, the Committee approved a 10 per cent increment for all public universities. However, no such decision has been brought before it for the 2020/21 academic calendar. AngloGold Ashanti has announced that all conditions precedent have been met with respect to the sale of its remaining mines in South Africa to Harmony Gold Mining Company Limited. The Member of Parliament (MP) for Adaklu, Kwame Agbodza, has raised questions regarding the selection of Frontier, the company in charge of testing all passengers who arrive at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) for Coronavirus. Mr Agbodza said the selection process for the company was shrouded in secrecy and was also not done through competitive bidding. More than 200 prisoners have escaped from a jail in north-east Uganda, officials say, bringing the local town to a standstill while security forces try to track them down. The inmates reportedly killed a soldier after they broke out of the facility in Moroto before heading for the hills. The army and prison officials are pursuing the escapees, who reportedly made off with 15 guns and ammunition. An army spokesperson said two inmates had been captured and two killed.
