Motor Riders Association of Ghana (Okada) have kicked against Dr. Bawumia’s assertions that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will not succumb to pressure to make the commercial use of motorbikes, popularly known as ‘okada’, a legal means of commercial transport, but would rather lease vehicles to riders. The Association said what they need now is safety regulations and not to divert into driving instead of riding the “Okada”. Dr Bawumia describing the operationalization of “Okada” in the country as a “risky business” announced government’s proposed alternative to offer new cars to the operators on a lease basis in order for…

It is shocking that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is promising to expand generation capacity as far as power is concerned because Ghana at the moment has excess capacity in the region of 2000MW which is not being used, yet being paid for, a Deputy Minister of Energy, Mohammed Amin Adam, has said. He explained that the NDC signed several power purchasing contracts which has resulted in the country having to pay for power that is not being used. Therefore, to turn around to promise an expansion in the generation capacity ahead of this year’s elections is surprising, he said.…
Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, formerly popularly known as Bulldog but now Bullgod, says the President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, should do development works rather than updating the country every two weeks about coronavirus pandemic. Speaking on Showbiz 927 on 3FM with MzGee, Bullgod opined that the president should allow his ministers to update the public on the pandemic. “… He has become like journalist under his administration. He is always talking about coronavirus every two weeks on the television. Which president does that in his or her country, and that shows how less busy he is on the development of…
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) while in office signed several Power Purchasing Agreements (PPAs) without recourse to competitive bidding processes, Deputy Minister of Energy in Charge of Petroleum Mohammed Amin Adam has said. Dr Amin Adams, who is also the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Karaga Constituency, said most of these agreements that the previous government signed were not needed because Ghana has 2000MW of excess generation capacity that is not being used, yet being paid for. He was contributing to a discussion on the NDC’s promise to expand generation capacity in the event the party wins the…
The main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has reduced the 2020 electioneering campaign to just Okada promises and Sakawa boys’ politics, Gabby Otchere-Darko, a member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), has said. The former Executive Director of the Danquah Institute noted that when the NPP was in opposition, the party was able to spearhead political discussions that centered on key policy proposals including the implementation of the Free Senior High School programmme. Speaking at the joint launch of a strategic collaboration of Volkswagon & Blackivy to launch Volkswagon’s new assembled cars in Ghana, Dr. Bawumia stated that the NPP government will rather provide…
