Ghana’s coronavirus fatalities have passed the 100 mark as eight more new deaths are announced Friday by health authorities. The total covid-19 deaths now stand at 103. Additionally, 361 new covid-19 cases have been recorded to bring the national tally to 15,834. The country’s recoveries also keep surging, with the current figure being 11,755. Lawyer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Abraham Amaliba has described the ruling by the Supreme Court of Ghana in the suit by the NDC against the Electoral Commission (EC) on the voters registers as a travesty of justice. Former President John Mahama says the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is bound to lose the December 2020 general elections with or without a politically engineered electoral roll. Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Ernest Addison, has expressed worry about the widening budget deficit due to the coronavirus pandemic, saying this development could derail the progress made over the past three years.
