Coronavirus treatment centres in the Ashanti Region are full to capacity, health authorities have said Alternatives, according to them, are currently being explored to augment the 18-bed centre at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and the 20-bed centre at Kumasi South Hospital. The Attorney General’s Office has rejected the terms of a refund agreement submitted by the founder of the defunct Capital Bank, William Ato Essien. Chief State Attorney, Marina Appiah Opare, told an Accra High court the agreement was “totally unacceptable” and have been rejected because they were not favourable to the state. She said another proposal has been received from the accused but it is now being studied. She insisted the trial of the accused person must proceed alongside deliberations, insisting that the terms will only affect four of the charges. The New Patriotic Party has fixed June 27 to endorse President Nana Akufo-Addo as the party’s presidential candidate to face off ex-president John Mahama and others in the December 2020 presidential election. Coronavirus cases in Ghana have gone up to 12,929 after 339 new cases were announced Thursday by the Ghana Health Service. The new cases were recorded in 9 regions with the Greater Accra leading with 154 cases, followed by Western Region with 58 cases and Ashanti with 41 cases. Central Region recorded 38 of the new cases while Eastern Region had 15 cases, Volta Region with 13 cases and Bono East Region with nine cases. The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) signed a contract with a consortium of consultants to conduct feasibility study on the Port of Keta. Led by a German firm M/s Sellhorn Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH, the consortium is tasked to deliver a full feasibility study and master plan, including development and investment strategy for the Port.
