Zoomlion Ghana Limited has begun the disinfection and disinfestation of about fifty-five (55) military facilities and installations located in both the Volta and Oti regions in an ongoing exercise to stem the spread of the novel coronavirus. The lifeless body of a 25-year-old man has been washed ashore at the Alan beach in Takoradi in the Western region. Identified as Carlos Dobge, the deceased’s body was found after some traditional rites were performed. Carlos reportedly got drowned on Sunday morning at the same beach. Deputy Defence Minister, Major (retd.) Derrick Oduro, has commended Ghana’s biggest waste management firm, Zoomlion Ghana Limited, for being at the forefront of Ghana’s fight against the deadly coronavirus. Using state-of-the-art equipment, the firm has since the outbreak of the covid-19 pandemic, conducted a series of disinfection exercises in second cycle schools, police installations, market centres, churches, mosques, universities and other public places across the country. The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of complicity in the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited’s scandal of 2017. The Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) findings have faulted the Electoral Commission chairperson, Jean Mensa for not declaring her assets when she assumed office as required by law. The Alliance for Social Equity and Accountability (ASEPA) in December 2019 petitioned the Commission to investigate Jean Mensa for not disclosing her assets in accordance with Article 286 of the Constitution. The Electoral Commission (EC) says it did not include the existing voter’s Identification Card as a requirement for the compilation of a new register because the current electoral roll lacks credibility. According to the EC, it came to that conclusion following the Supreme Court’s own ruling that the register is reasonably not credible and that by implication, the cards issued pursuant to it are also reasonably not credible.
