A 30-year old man, Kobina Aggrey, who threatened to cut his neighbour into pieces for allegedly snatching his girlfriend, has been granted GH¢10,000 bail with two sureties by a circuit court in Cape Coast. The Leader of the Economic Fighters League, Ernesto Yeboah who was arrested by the police for organising a vigil in memory of murdered Black American, George Floyd, has been granted bail after spending a night in police cell. He was picked up in the middle of the vigil by armed police and military personnel at the Black Star Square where the event was being held on Saturday. Brazil has removed months of data on Covid-19 from a government website amid criticism of President Jair Bolsonaro’s handling of the outbreak. The health ministry said it would now only be reporting cases and deaths in the past 24 hours, no longer giving a total figure as most countries do. Huge peaceful rallies have taken place across the US against racism and police brutality on the 12th day of protests sparked by the death of George Floyd. Tens of thousands of people marched in Washington DC, in the city’s largest protest so far. Security forces blocked any approach to the White House. Some churches in Accra have had their auditoriums and premises disinfected in compliance with the government directives to them as part of the coronavirus protocols for the resumption of religious activities in the country. Ghana’s coronavirus death toll has been put at 44 as at June 6 after two more persons were reported dead in less than 24 hours after Friday’s update. However, 358 recoveries were recorded, bringing the national total recovered figure to 3,547, the Ghana Health Service reported on Saturday. The cumulative case count since Thursday, March 12, when the first two index cases were recorded, is now 9,462 with 5,871 active cases. Some aggrieved youth of the ruling New Patriotic Party in the Saboba Constituency in the Northern region have vandalized the NPP constituency party office.
