South Sudan’s Vice-President Riek Machar has tested positive for coronavirus. He said he had no symptoms, but would self- isolate for 14 days. His wife, Defence Minister Angelina Teny, some bodyguards and other staff have also tested positive. A team of security officers has intercepted “one big parcel” of suspected narcotic drug at the unapproved route of ‘beat 6’ in the Ketu South of the Volta Region. The interception was made on Saturday 16th May, 2020 at dawn. Some angry youth in Kayoro and adjoining communities in the Kassena Nankana West District of the Upper East region have set ablaze several houses belonging to Fulani settlers. They accused the Fulanis of being responsible for the rampant robberies in the area. The police had earlier averted plans by the youth to take “revenge” on the Fulani herdsmen whom the claimed are architects of the robberies. Nana Kwadwo Biri, the General Secretary of the Federation of Traditional Medicine Practitioners Association, has revealed that the association sent 33 samples of their products which they believe are effective in dealing with the coronavirus to the Ministry of Health.
