The Tourism Minister has countered a circular issued by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) authorizing drinking bars to start operating alongside food chains and restaurants. The GTA on Monday, May 11, said hotels can operate sit-in as well as pick-up and delivery services while also observing the safety protocols. Ghana has now recorded 5,408 Covid-19 cases after 281 more cases were confirmed nationwide, the Ghana Health Service has announced. The pandemic has also claimed 24 lives in the latest update published on the Service’s website on Wednesday, May 13, 2020. A total of 514 have recovered. So far 61 percent of the confirmed cases are male while the female account for 39 percent. The Greater Accra Region accounts for 4,147 of the total case count. President Akufo-Addo has revoked the appointment of Gilbert Ken Asmah as the Chief executive for Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Assembly in the Western Region. Ten persons on remand at the Ashaiman police station in the Greater Accra region have tested positive for Covid-19. Commander in charge of the station who confirmed this to TV3 said they only got to know after a random test was conducted by health officials two weeks ago. 54 samples were taken with ten proving positive.
