Three COVID-19 patients who tested positive on Wednesday April 15, 2020 have now tested negative in two consecutive tests in the past two weeks. Six Burkinabe have been apprehended by the Ghana Immigration Service patrol team with support from police personnel on duty at the Nadowli checkpoint in the Upper West Region. About eight hundred thousand workers in the hospitality, leisure and tourism sector are said to have lost their jobs. Government has rejected to pay some 740 million cedis being claims put forward by some customers of the non-banking financial institutions in the country whose licences were revoked over breaches and insolvency. According to the Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the official receiver and liquidator of the institutions, Eric Nana Nipah, upon validation of the claims concluded they were illegitimate. A total of 5.06 billion cedis has so far been paid to customers of the non-banking financial institutions in the country which had their licences revoked by the Bank of Ghana (BoG) for being insolvent. The customers are from the 347 microfinance companies, 39 micro credit companies, 23 savings and loans as well as finance house companies whose licences were revoked by the BoG last year over breaches, lack of corporate governance and for being insolvent among others.
