A 2-year-old boy lost his life after fire gutted two tanker trucks and about a dozen container shops at “Aben be bom” (Apremdo market) near Kwesimintsim in the Effia Kwesimintsim constituency of the Western Region on Wednesday. An eyewitness account indicates that a taxi which was being repaired in the vicinity caught fire and spread to the two diesel tankers which were stationed behind the Apremdo filling station. Former President John Dramanai Mahama has kick-started a criminal proceeding against the Bono Regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) for publishing “false news” about him. Police personnel who contract the deadly coronavirus in the performance of their duties will receive a special package from the Ghana Police Service, the IGP James Oppong-Boanuh has announced. He, however, did not reveal details of the support which he stated will also be extended to the family members of the affected personnel. A covid-19 technical team, he said, has been constituted at the police headquarters in Accra to deal with all matters involving police personnel in relation to the coronavirus, which has so far infected over 2,700 people in the country and killed 18 of them with 297 recoveries.…

Heads of public senior high and technical schools in the Central Region have lauded the Ghana Education Service and Zoomlion Ghana Limited for the massive fumigation and disinfection of their schools against bed bugs and the deadly coronavirus. The Royalhouse Chapel International headquarters in Accra has benefited from Zoomlion Ghana Limited’s free disinfection exercise. A fire has engulfed a skyscraper in Sharjah, one of the largest cities in the United Arab Emirates, showering debris on cars in the streets below.
