Officers of the Border Patrols Unit of the Ghana Immigration Service at the Chache border in the Bole District of the Savannah region have intercepted 93 bags of cashew seeds being smuggled into Ghana from neighbouring Côte d’Ivoire. The goods were onboard a Kia Rhino truck intercepted at one of the unapproved routes at the Chache border. Assembly members and some opinion leaders in Aflao in the Volta Region have joined forces to push local authorities at Ketu South Municipality to remove an illegally created refuse dumping site within the township. Dumping of refuse by the people on the walled private property was said to have started in 1976 and has since built up to become a big dumping site in the Dekeme residential area, like the height of a four-storey building. A police report detailing the circumstances that led to the death of a senior staff of the Volta River Authority (VRA) at Akuse in the Eastern region, who was involved in a road accident, showed that the deceased sustained a wound suspected to be from a gunshot. Eric Dogbe, 47, an engineer with the VRA was on Saturday, May 2 pronounced dead on arrival  at the  Akuse Government hospital after he was involved in a car accident with one other who was admitted. Four Burkina Faso nationals have been arrested by Immigration officials at the Babile inland check point in the Upper West Region of Ghana The four, all men,  arrested on Tuesday morning are between the ages of 22 and 39. According to the Upper West Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Immigration Service, Mr Ibn Yussif Duranah Abdul-Mumin Seidu, the Burkinabe were seen onboard a Hyundai Grace H300 mini bus with with registration number AS 3289-11 . A massive fumigation exercise against bed bugs and other dangerous insects has commenced in public senior high and technical schools as well as special needs schools in the Central Region. Dormitories of 103 schools in the region are being sprayed with a WHO-approved pesticide to eradicate bed bugs and other insects which have become nuisance to students and school authorities. The management of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital says the facility is ready to treat more persons infected with COVID-19. This comes after the nation’s premier teaching hospital recorded a 100 percent recovery of patients on admission at the facility due to coronavirus. Coronavirus test kits used in Tanzania were dismissed as faulty by President John Magufuli on Sunday, because he said they had returned positive results on samples taken from a goat and a pawpaw.
