Headmistress of Nsawam Senior High School (SHS) in the Eastern Region, Ms. Gladys Asiedu, has appealed to the government to fast-track the completion of a new building facility for the school at new location on the Nsawam-Aburi road. She said the need to complete the building has become necessary due to the increasing number of students posted to the school each year. Boris Johnson and his fiancee Carrie Symonds have named their baby boy Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson. The names are a tribute to their grandfathers and two doctors who treated Mr Johnson while he was in hospital with coronavirus, Ms Symonds wrote in an Instagram post. Parliament, before it rose on May Day, to resume possibly on May 19, approved a GH¢ 288.6 million tax waiver for health workers to motivate them in the fight against Covid-19. Ghana’s case count hits 2,169 with one more person dying of the novel coronavirus, the Ghana Health Service announced on Saturday. The Service’s website reported that the country’s death toll now stands at 18. A total of 229 persons who previously contracted the disease are said to have recovered. A 37-year-old man died after being trapped in a galamsey pit at Akyem Mampong in the Eastern region. According to the police, on May 1, 2020 they had report that a mining pit at Gold Bank Limited had caved in and has trapped a worker whose name was given as Abdul Razak Bempong and other gold scavengers.
