The Supreme Court has deferred its judgment in the case challenging the eligibility of Martin Amidu as the Special Prosecutor. Although the court constituted by seven-member justices had fixed April 28 to decide on the matter brought before it by a former Deputy Attorney General, Dominic Ayine, it has been deferred to May 13. The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has banned all non-unionised commercial vehicles, popularly known as ‘Waa Waa’ from operating in the metropolis. The KMA and the various transport operators at a meeting to discuss social distancing protocols agreed to also limit the number of vehicles plying the city. A Metro Mass Transit (MMT) bus driver and some 52 passengers have been arrested in Obuasi in the Ashanti Region for their failure to adhere to social distancing protocols. Although the MMT is designed to carry 52 passengers, management of the company have directed all its buses to take only 23 passengers as part of measures taken to stop the spread of the deadly coronavirus.
