Ghana has begun recording localized cases of the deadly novel coronavirus as five new cases are confirmed Friday morning by health officials who are stepping up efforts to contain the spread of the pandemic in the country. The Mental Health Authority has offered to provide emotional and psychological support to persons who are directly or indirectly affected by the novel coronavirus as Ghana records steady rise of the global pandemic. According to the Authority, anxiety could reduce immunity, cause stresss and make people vulnerable and susceptible to the virus, which has affected more than 200,000 people globally and caused over 8,000 fatalities. An Accra Circuit Court has ordered the Police to file their disclosures in the case in which Anthony Dormekpo a driver from Akatsi is being held for allegedly transporting over 20 persons to a military ground at Dzodze. Four Indian men convicted of the gang rape and murder of a student in Delhi in 2012 have been hanged. Akshay Thakur, Vinay Sharma, Pawan Gupta and Mukesh Singh were sentenced to death by a trial court in 2013. Ghana has suspended passport services at all Passport Application Centres (PACs). The decision takes “immediate effect”, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration said in a notice on Thursday.
