Working hours for Customs officials at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) in Accra and the two main ports in the country have been extended by three more hours for five days beginning Tuesday. The Bui Power Authority (BPA) has instituted an annual scholarship scheme for needy students in its catchment area. For a start, four second cycle students have been awarded scholarships by the management of the BPA to study in any tertiary institution of their choice in the country. They were selected after a careful assessment. They are Peter Anane Gbono, Kwame Kajansah, Thomas Shakour and Boniface Dzobo. Veteran actor Abeiku Sagoe says most members of the newly constituted board for the National Film Authority (NFA) are incompetent. One person, a woman, is feared dead and another seriously injured in a Tuesday morning accident at Awoshie-Abranteɛ in Accra involving two vehicles. The unidentified woman is said to have mistakenly crossed the road from the Odorgono SHS side to the other side without looking at her right. A total of 17 members of the secessionist group, the Homeland Study Group Foundation (HSGF) were arrested over the weekend following joint security operations in the Volta Region. The operations were necessitated by the “unlawful activities” of the separatist group who declared their independence on 16 November 2019. Algerian strongman military chief Ahmed Gaid Salah, known for telling veteran leader Abdelaziz Bouteflika to resign, has died aged 79, official media say. One of the last veterans of the 1954-62 independence war against France still in power, Gen Salah died of a heart attack.
