On the occasion of this year’s Farmers’ Day, the Coalition for Cocoa Sector Reforms (CSR) is pushing for expedited action on the implementation of a cocoa farmers’ pension scheme announced by the government. Members of Parliament have unanimously identified integrated recycling and compost plant as the best option to help address Ghana’s solid waste management challenges. According to them, the decade old landfill system has now become nuisance to people and their communities due to how poorly they are managed as a result of lack of funds. Plans are afoot for the setting up of a cassava processing factory under the One District One Factory initiative in Shama, District Chief Executive Joseph Amoah has disclosed to a gathering at a ceremony to mark the 35th edition of the Farmers’ Day Celebration at Nyankrom in the Shama District of the Western Region.
