Takoradi-based rapper Ayesem is picking musician Sista Afia over Eno and Freda Rhymes in the on-going beef between some female artistes.
According to him, he is impressed with the punch lines delivered by Sista Afia, who is seemingly known to many as a singer and not a rapper.
For some days now, Sista Afia has ignited a lot of controversy after the release of her song ‘MTW’, on April 22.
While Sista Afia did not mention names, some people have concluded that she took jabs at Sister Derby, Wendy Shay, and Efia Odo in the song.
The song has seen counter jabs and reactions from Freda Rhymz (released ‘KMT’), and Eno (released ‘Rap Goddess’).
Commenting on the on-going beef, Ayesem told MzGee in an interview on TV3’s New Day that “I’m really loving it”.
Asked who his favourite is, the rapper, born Stephen Kwabena Siaw, disclosed that “my favourite so far is Sista Afia…because for someone like Sista Afia being a singer and then rapping like that I was really really shocked. Trust me the punch lines in there [were] amazing…”
He explained that in Sista Afia’s second beef song ‘You Got Nerves’, “there is so much power in that freestyle”.
He, however, also gave shout outs to Eno and Freda Rhymes too for their songs.
The Takoradi-based rapper does not have a problem with beefs. He stressed that beefs are good for the music industry.
“I think it’s really helped the industry especially this lockdown season. It makes people very happy and then feel like at least there is future in GH rap. It’s really healthy to me if you ask me. It’s normal…beefs are part of rap,” Ayesem said.
