The death is reported of former Black Stars midfielder Yakubu Abubakar.
The former Ajax and Vitesse Arnhem player died in a hospital in Tema on Tuesday after a short illness.
Abubakar Yakubu was one of the visible players in the Ajax set-up.
He plied his trade between 1999 and 2005 with the Dutch side with whom he won the Dutch Eredivisie in 2002 and 2004.
He was also a member of the 1997 Black Starlets side that won Silver in the U-17 World Cup in Egypt.
Former Ajax and Ghana midfielder Yakubu Abubakar (Zapata) has passed away in Tema.
Was also a member of 1997 Starlets.

He represented Ghana at the senior level 16 times and was a key member of the Ratomir Dujkovic side that failed at the 2006 Africa Cup of Nations.
