World football-governing body FIFA has handed a 90-day provisional ban to embattled Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kwesi Nyantakyi from engaging in any football activity.
The decision was taken on Friday upon the request of the chairperson of the investigatory chamber of FIFA’s Ethics Committee, Claudia Maria Rojas.
“The duration of the ban may be extended for an additional period not exceeding 45 days,” a media advisory released by the Committee on Friday said.
“During this time, Mr Nyantakyi is banned from all football activities at both national and international level (administrative, sports or any other).
“The ban comes into force immediately.”
The GFA President came under investigation from the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) of the Ghana Police Service after President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo reported him.
The First Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (Caf) had been captured in a secret filming using the names of the president, his vice, and other government officials to beguile some investors.

But after the documentary film was shown to the public at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) at a two-day premiere, the government of Ghana took immediate steps to dissolve the country’s football-governing body.
FIFA had said it was studying the situation and “gathering additional information”.
But in the media advisory on Friday, FIFA said it is carrying out a “formal investigation proceedings into Mr Nyantakyi, pursuant to art. 83 par. 1 and art. 84 par. 2 of the FIFA Code of Ethics”.
This means Mr Nyantakyi, aside forfeiting all other international roles, ultimately ceases to be one of the 37 members of the FIFA Council
