Firefighters from the Bechem Fire Station swiftly responded to a 5:38 a.m. distress call earlier on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 after a head-on collision involving a Ford Transit and a Kia Rhino at Nyamebekyere on the Sunyani–Kumasi highway.
An eight-member rescue team led by STNO II Simon Yeboah extricated and transported all 16 occupants – 14 from the Ford Transit and two from the Kia Rhino – to the Bechem Government Hospital and PISGAH Advanced Medical Center.
Even though the victims suffered varying degrees of injury, no fatalities were recorded.
However, the two vehicles – the Ford Transit with registration number AS 7172-23 and the Kia Rhino with registration number AS 3058-X – sustained extensive dents.
Investigations have since been launched into the accident.
