The Ashanti Region Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sam Pyne, has charged former caterers under the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) to be honest to themselves.
The NPP man said the former caterers of the Programme are creating the impressions that no money has been paid to them ever since their contracts were abrogated by the current government.
The former caterers on Tuesday petitioned the Gender, Children and Social Protection Ministry over arrears owed them by government.
The women embarked on a protest walk to press home their demands.
Commenting on the development on TV3’s New Day hosted by Johnnie Hughes on Wednesday, Sam Pyne said: “They need to be honest. They need to be very honest because they were given some amount”.
He added: “You don’t create the impression that nothing has been paid. Government has assured that adequate preparation have been made some amount has been paid”.
The Member of Parliament for Chiana-Paga Constituency in the Upper East Region, Rudolf Nsorwine Amenga-Etego, who was also on the show, said “it is not justifiable to say each have had something. I am taking what [the caterers are] saying for the truth”.
“The cash to back the menu is not there. The position to give them good meal is not there. What they are giving them now is not what they proposed. The menu is very different.”
