The Ministry of Health has inaugurated a seven-member Investigation Committee to examine allegations of unethical medical practices at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge).
Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh appointed Alhaji Dr (Pharm) Inua Yusuf, Esq., Head of Legal Affairs at the Ministry, to chair the committee. Members include senior medical professionals, biomedical engineers, and representatives from civil society, the Ghana Medical Association, and the Food and Drugs Authority. Key members are Dr. Eric Kofi Ngyedu, Dr. Adam Abass, Dr. George Sabbalah, Dr. Nicholas Adjabu, Dr. Frederick Kwarteng, and Prof. John Osae-Kwapong.
The committee has been tasked with conducting a comprehensive and independent inquiry into the allegations, while also assessing the effectiveness of governance, oversight, and control systems within the affected hospitals.
Hon Akandoh has directed the committee to submit its findings and recommendations by 10 February 2026.
The Ministry of Health reassures the public of its full cooperation with the investigation and emphasises its commitment to maintaining high ethical standards in the healthcare sector, restoring public trust, and ensuring that Ghanaian patients receive safe, professional, and transparent medical care.
The Ministry has urged the public to provide relevant information to aid the inquiry and pledged transparency throughout the process.
