The Black Stars have suffered a 5-1 defeat to Austria in the first of four pre-2026 FIFA World Cup matches.
The Austrians, who are ranked 24th in the world, broke the deadlock in the 13th minute through a penalty after a handball against Wolfsburg defender Jonas Adjei Adjetey.

Marcel Sabitzer stepped up to convert from the spot.
They doubled their lead just six minutes into the second half with FC Augsburg’s Michael Gregoritsch connecting to a pass in the penalty area after a defensive blunder by Caleb Yirenkyi.
Stefan Posch made it 3-0 after a slight touch to a corner kick flicked by a towering header from Michael Svoboda.

Though captain Jordan Ayew pulled one back in the 77th minute, Carney Chukwuemeka and Nicolas Seiwald scored one goal each to end the score 5-1.
Ghana’s next match will be against Germany on Monday while Austria face Korea Republic in their next friendly on Tuesday.
