Hundreds of constituents in the Asokwa Constituency participated in the second edition of Akoma FM’s ‘Constituency Watch’ outdoor event.

The event, which is an offshoot of the GhanAkoma morning show, creates the platform for the electorate to engage political leaders on their developmental and social needs.

Show host Kofi Asante Ennin put the spotlight on politics of development with the Municipal Chief Executive for the area, Akwanuasa Gyimah, the Parliamentary Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Amoh Kamel, and an Independent Parliamentary Candidate, Eric Osei.

Others on the show were Ashanti Region Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Francis Adomako, NDC’s regional Deputy Communication Director, Kwaku Asafo Agyei, and other stakeholders such as market leaders, driver unions and opinion leaders.

Supporters of the various political interests flooded the Atonsu venue of the event to chant party songs in a charged atmosphere.

Many asked for a lot more of such events to enable them access their leaders ahead of the December 7 polls.

“The second edition of the constituency debate here at Atonsu in the Asokwa Municipality has been colourful and results oriented,” one of the constituents lauded Akoma FM.

Another participant who couldn’t hide his joy for the programme said: “This is the first time I’m seeing a media organization organize such a programme for we, the electorate, to vent our views and challenges to duty bearers. I’m very happy and I wish you will repeat this programme at least before December 7.”

As the atmosphere charged with party followers cheering and chanting party songs, this is what some of them had to say:

“This show is one in a million, I really love the resource persons and how the show is carved for we the electorates.”

“We can’t wait for another outdoor programme to be held here, we are loving Akoma FM for such initiative, we want more of them,” said one constituent.

The Constituency Watch train makes a stop in one constituency at a time as the December 7 general elections draw closer.
