The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon, John Dumelo, has said he will press on the enforcement of the Rent Control Act, 1963 (Act 220) if he is elected into Parliament.
Ghana has the Rent Control Act, 1963 (ACT 220). However, there is a general feeling that the law is not being implemented.
In a tweet, Mr Dumelo said it is one of the first things he will consider if he gets into Parliament after this year’s elections.
The actor noted: “How can the youth survive in an economy where we have to pay 2 years rent upfront”.
“We need to pay at most 6 months rents advance,” he added.
One of the first things I will do when I get to parliament is to push for the enforcement of the rent control act. We need to pay at most 6 months rent advance. How can we(youth esp) survive in an economy where we have to pay 2 years rent upfront? Not right. We dey bleed. #idey4u
