The police at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in collaboration with the university’s security services have begun investigations into the death a second-year student.
Master Ransford Amankwah Asomani, a Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness Management student, is reported to have fallen off the second floor of his hostel, off campus, in the early hours of Sunday, February 8.
“He was immediately rushed to the KNUST Hospital by his colleagues, with support from the KNUST District Police Patrol Team,” a press release signed by the University Relations Officer, Dr Daniel Norris Bekoe, on Monday explained.
“But [he] was unfortunately pronounced dead on arrival.”
His parents have been informed about the sad incident and the body deposited at the KNUST Hospital morgue, pending autopsy.
“Management is deeply saddened by this unfortunate incident and extends heartfelt condolences to the family of Mr Ransford Amankwah Asomani and the entire University community.”
According to the press release, investigations have since commenced.
“Management will provide further updates to the media and the public as soon as all the facts are established.”
