The legislative arm of government has confirmed that Member of Parliament for Madina Constituency, Francis-Xavier Sosu, is in a stable condition following his collapse earlier in the day.
Mr Sosu collapsed at an event at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) while delivering a speech.
He suddenly paused in his speech but was immediately helped by two persons, who are said to have rushed him to a near-by facility.
“The Honourable Member received immediate assistance at the event and was transferred to a medical facility, where he is receiving medical attention,” Parliament said in an update issued by Director of Media Relations David Sebastian Damoah.
“Parliament is pleased to confirm that Hon. Sosu is in stable condition and is under the care of his medical team.”
It extended appreciation to the management and staff of GIMPA, the attending medical personnel, and all who responded promptly.
“We also thank the public for the prayers and messages of goodwill received.”
It also urged the public to desist from sharing video of the incident out of respect for the MP and his family and refrain from speculation on the cause of the incident or his condition.
“Further updates will be communicated through official channels of Parliament as appropriate,” it concluded.
