President John Dramani Mahama continues to revoke the appointments of his predecessor, former President Akufo-Addo’s appointees.
The latest to be hit with revocation of appointment is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Minerals Income and Investment Fund (MIIF) under the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, Edward Nana Yaw Koranteng.
Yaw Koranteng’s was given the marching order, through a letter dated Monday January 13, 2025 and signed by secretary to the President, Dr Callistus Mahama, took effect immediately.
He was in the letter directed to hand over his responsibilities to the President’s representative at the Ministry of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson.
Dr. Forson who has been nominated as Finance Minister designate and was vetted on Monday January 13, will oversee the Fund’s operations until Nana Yaw Koranteng replacement is appointed.
““I write to formally inform you that H.E. John Dramani Mahama has revoked your appointment as the Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Income and Investment Fund, effective immediately.
You are directed to hand over your duties to the President’s representative at the Ministry of Finance, Hon. Dr Ato Forson will oversees the operations of the Fund until a substantive Chief Executive Officer is approved”, the statement said.
The President expressed gratitude to Mr. Koranteng for his service to the nation.
Meanwhile, the Director-General (D-G) of the National Lottery Authority (NLA) Samuel Awuku has opted to jump instead of waiting to be pushed by the new administration.
The D-G, cited his election as the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Akuapim North constituency, in the Eastern Region, as his main reason for relinquishing the position.
“I have been elected as the Member of Parliament for the Akwapim North constituency and have been duly sworn in to represent my constituents. In the light of this new responsibility, I wish to focus my efforts on serving as Member of Parliament.
I was appointed as Director General of the NLA in August 2021 and received confirmation from the [Public Services Commission in July 2022.
I kindly request that you appoint a replacement for the position of Ditector General to facilate a smooth transition and handover of responsibilities”, the resignation letter dated Monday January 13 said.
Barely one week into his administration, President Mahama has taken some major decisions and steps aimed at constituting his administration.
Some of these decisions include, the halting of all transactions concerning state lands, appointment of first three cabinet ministers, reduction of ministries from 20 to 23 and the revocation of all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) as well as the formation of the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) team led by Member of Palrimant (MP) for the North Tongu constituency Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
