The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has denied reports making rounds on social media that the Minister has sponsored business‑class tickets to some individuals to Germany for the Black Stars’ friendly match on Monday.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry on Sunday, March 29, no individual has been sponsored, facilitated nor upgraded by the Minister or Ministry, describing the reports as “false and baseless”.
The statement, issued by Head of Public Relations and Communications at the Ministry Bagbara Tanko, explained that the individuals featured in a circulating video only had a brief encounter with Kofi Iddie Adams at the airport departure tunnel as usual of public officials and citizens.
The statement explained that the Minister was then alone about to board his flight to Germany.
“No staff of the Ministry or any delegation accompanied him on this trip,” the statement stressed.
It further noted that the Ministry has not committed anything funds, whether from its budget or through corporate sponsorship, towards the two international friendly games.
“Consequently, no arrangements or support have been made for fan participation or tadvel in any form.”
The statement urged the public to disregard the “misleading narratives being circulated”.
“The Ministry remains committed to transparency, accountability, and prudent use of public resources.”
