The Gambia jumped to the top of Group C in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers after a 4-2 win over Ghana at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, September 29.
The Scorpions came from two goals down to beat the Black Stars.
Ernest Nuamah put Ghana ahead in the 27th minute from the spot before Igdir striker Felix Afena-Gyan made it 2-0 by the 33rd minute.
But just after four minutes, the tide turned in favour of the away team
Muhammed Badamosi made no mistake as he beat goalkeeper Benjamin Asare in post when his side won a penalty courtesy a foul by Gideon Mensah.
A few minutes later, Omar Colley levelled the score after he hit the ball past Asare from a long throw-in.
The frustration on the Ghanaian bench after the equaliser led to a Yellow Card to coach Carlos Queiroz. A Gambian official was also sent off by referee Mustapha Kechchaf from the melee.
A defensive blunder by Mensah saw Ebrima Colley put his side ahead for the first time in the game.
He got a second in injury time as he raced ahead of Mensah to slot home a pass from a quick counter attack.
The match ended 4-2.
The win by the Scorpions see them record a perfect start to the qualifiers.
Ghana are bottom of the group with a doubleheader with Somalia to play in November.
