A pro-National Democratic Congress (NDC) vigilante group called the Hawks halted the regional executive elections taking place at the Tweneboah Kodua SHS in Sekyere Kumawu in the Ashanti Region.
According to the group, Joseph Yamin, who is contesting for the regional chairmanship post, is being handed a raw deal by some unknown hands.
Onua FM‘s Kwame Agyekum reported that the Hawks claimed a “mafia game” is being played against Mr Yamin.
But calm was restored after NDC’s General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia, who is supervising the polls, talked to the feuding groups.
Mr Yamin is also reported to have calmed down the vigilante group, who were reported to have overpowered the police.

The elections have resumed.
Four persons are contesting for the regional chairmanship slot.
Aside the former regional secretary, Mr Yamin, the Region’s Vice Chairman, Augustus Nana Kwesi, Kwadwo Adu Gyamfi and Thomas Braimah are all on the ballot contesting for the topmost post in the Region.
