The United States of America and the United Kingdom have announced the deployment of a team of investigators to assist the Ghana Police Service search for the three girls kidnapped between August and December last year in the Sekondi/Takoradi metropolis.

This comes in the wake of mounting calls for the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Police Service to prioritize investigations into the kidnapping to ensure speedy rescue of the victims.

Meeting the families
The Director General of the CID, Deputy Commissioner of Police Maame Tiwaa Addo-Danquah who announced this during separate meetings with the families of the three Kidnapped victims assured the families of the police administration’s commitment to finding the girls.

She urged the families’ and the public to cooperate with the police, saying the team of investigators is seriously working to track the girls and that “it is not all leads picked during the investigation that would be made public.

She said the early rescue of the three;  was not an issue for the family alone but for the entire nation and beyond, assuring them that the police administration is doing everything possible to rescue the victims.

The CID Director General met the families of the victims separately in their homes and conveyed the sympathy of the IGP and the Police Administration to the families.

The parents were very grateful to the police for the constant interaction by the Regional Police Commander and also the visit by the CID boss, saying it gives them confidence the police attach great importance to the search for the girls.

The anxiety
The parents expressed gratitude for work done so far and urged more action to bring back their children and assuage the anxiety of the people as a result of the kidnapping.

Other members of the community appealed to the Police Administration, government and the health sector to assign the services of a clinical psychologist to assist the anxious parents to ease the trauma they are going through.

Among the entourage of the CID boss were the Regional Police Commander, DCOP Vincent Redeemer Dedjoe and his 2/IC ACP Edmund Ohene Bosompem, the Regional Crime Officer, ACP Mr. James Amoako Acheamfour and his 2/IC, Supt. Alhaji Hussein Musah Awinaba, the Staff Officer DSP Mr. Kweku Ayepah, the Regional Public Relations Officer, DSP Olivia Ewurabena Adiku, and the Takoradi District Police Commander, C/Supt. Peter Ofori Donkor.
