Some Members of Parliament have been stripped off their leadership positions within some select committees of parliament in view of their commitments outside the legislative House.
A motion effecting the changes in the composition of some parliamentary select committees was tabled by Deputy majority leader Sarah Adjoa Sarfo and adopted by the House Tuesday despite initial objection to it.
The changes were necessitated by the fact that some of the leaders and members of these select committees have taken appointments outside of parliament on the continent and in the sub-region.
Ranking member of the health committee opposed the motion indicating the majority needed to come clear on the number of changes it has made to avoid a back and forth situation, our correspondent Komla Klutse reported.
But the Speaker Prof Mike Ocquaye rejected it and put the question for the motion to be moved after which it was accepted by the House.
Chairman for the Subsidiary Legislation Committee and Bawku Central MP, Mahama Ayariga and the Ranking Member of the Health Committee, Joseph Yieleh Chireh, have been taken out from the respective committees.
Mahama Ayariga already serves in the ECOWAS Parliament has been replaced by a former Deputy Attorney General, Dr Dominic Ayine.
It is unclear whether his role at the ECOWAS parliament is negatively affecting his work as the Chairman of the Subsidiary Legislation Committee.
Yieleh Chireh, who is a member of the Pan-African Parliament, has been replaced with Juaboso MP, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh as the Ranking Member of the Health Committee.
Also, new entrant, MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon Lydia Seyram Alhassan and Mark Curt Nawaane have been made a member of the Health Committee.
From the majority side, Manhyia North MP, Collins Owusu Amankwah replaces Yaw Frimpong Addo as the Chairman of the Government Assurances Committee.
