Girls have been encouraged to persevere in the pursuit of their dreams despite the challenges that come their way.
Ms. Hawa Muslim, a mentor with the Muslimah Mentorship Network, said this to girls in a mentoring session with students of the Tuba Islamic Senior High School in Accra.
According to Ms. Muslim, young Muslim women are exposed to three main challenges: excelling in education, enhancing their social lives and building on their spirituality.
She spoke extensively on how the students can overcome challenges in those areas.
“Without challenges there is no goal,” she added, reminding the students to remember Allah in their dealings.
The headmaster of the school, Musah Yakub Banso entreated the network to expand its reach and mentor boys too. According to him, mentoring boys will have a positive impact since it will empower them to understand and promote the interest of girls.
The girls were taken through a one-on-one mentoring session with the mentors.
The Muslimah Mentorship Network is a group of young Muslim women who mentor girls in some communities in Ghana, to help girls make informed choices and realise their fullest potential.
