Scene at the venue of the competition where the young man collapsed[/caption] A young man has died after collapsing during a locally distilled gin (akpeteshie) drinking competition at Ntankoful in the Sekondi/Takoradi Metropolis Friday morning. The incident happened around 11: 15am. The deceased, Patrick Obeng Hamza, 25, was said to have consumed four ‘quarters’ of the hard liquor, approximately two bottles of 300ml Fanta. Hamza who is unemployed collapsed in the process of taking another ‘quarter’. His challenger who was said to be unconscious was revived, having been made to drink mashed kenkey by colleagues who were around, an eyewitnesses told Connect FM’s Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson.
