A Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Boamah Otukonor, has said his party is satisfied with the second place on the ballot paper for the December 7 elections.
The balloting was held on Tuesday, October 20 at the head office of the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC).
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) picked Number 1.
Coincidentally, the NDC picked Number 2 .
Before the balloting, Mr Otukonor raised issues with the processes and accused the EC of conspiring with the NPP to secure a favourable position.
He told journalists after the event that he “made the point that we are not satisfied with the process. It is an inherent bias which was introduced by the Electoral Commission”.
“You all saw all over on cameras how they took the boxes outside, how they were looking for the balls that will give them their number .
“We all saw it on cameras so the evidence is now replete when we say the EC may be in some criminal collusion with the government to rig this elections.”
Meanwhile, the General Secretary of the NPP, John Boadu, who expressed satisfaction with the NPP’s position, said the claims by the NDC are baseless and untenable.
He told journalists: “They just wanted to be heard and they were heard. The claims are baseless, untenable.”
