The Research Scientists Association (RSA) has scheduled Wednesday, October 16 as date to launch this year’s week celebrations.

The celebrations will be launched at the auditorium of the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission (GAEC) under the auspices of the Deputy Director-General of the Commission, Professor Shiloh Osae.

It will be under the theme: ‘Ghana Beyond Aid: The Role of Nuclear Technology’.

Thursday will see a public lecture at the British Council on the topic ‘Nuclear Technology for Better Health’ and ‘Sustainable Power Generations: The Nuclear Option’.

Friday, October 18, which marks the end of the celebrations, will see a blood donation exercise held in the morning and a social event interspersed with indoor games in the afternoon.

The celebrations are expected to educate the public on the peaceful applications of nuclear technology, latest trends in the diagnosis and the treatment of cancers as well as the work of the Commission and the Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NRA).

RSA of the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission and the Nuclear Regulatory Authority with a membership of about 200 members of diverse background is more than a pressure group or social club.

It is a multi-purpose association that serves amongst other things as a professional body, trade union, welfare association, social club and a mouth-piece for its members.
