Ghana’s borders will remain closed for the next two weeks.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has by a new Executive Instrument, EI 66, extended the closure of the country’s borders effective Sunday, April 5, the Minister of Information has stated.
In a number of tweets, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah says the “tough” decision was taken to ensure that the risk of importation of coronavirus cases are curtailed.

This is to ensure that the risk of importation of covid-19 cases will remain curtailed while we focus on the enhanced tracing and testing program currently underway.

President Akufo-Addo imposed a two-week border shutdown from midnight of Sunday, March 22.
In a nationwide broadcast, the president also ordered a mandatory quarantine of all Ghanaians returning home.
So far, a majority of Ghana’s 205 infected coronavirus cases were found among the hundreds quarantined.
The remaining who have tested negative are expected to be discharged to their various homes.
