The National Democratic Congress (NDC) executives in the three Tongu Constituencies and the Anlo Constituency have endorsed the candidature of Elvis Afriyie Ankrah for the position of General Secretary.

In an interview with the media during a tour by the aspirant, the executives noted that there is a need for the party to have someone who has already passed through the mill and is more appealing to the constituents so as to have an easy way to victory in the 2024 elections.

The South Tongu Constituency Organiser, Michael Gati noted that the plans lined up by Elvis Afriyie Ankrah on issues dear to the hearts of the members and how to handle them have won him their endorsement for the position.

He noted that if Elvis Afriyie Ankrah is able to fulfil his promises – have new offices built for the various constituencies and also make sure that the youth as well the members, especially the grass-roots are empowered among many other programmes, then he is sure to win the elections.

He noted that there are lots of programmes he promised to bring on board which are what the party needs at this critical stage to win power and defeat the NPP in 2024.

“He spoke about a lot of programmes to be done which won the hearts of the executives and if he is able to fulfil his promises then things would be better for the NDC,” he said.

In the Anlo Constituency, Organiser for the Anlo Constituency, Brass Dedzo noted that Elvis is more than able to do the job as the General Secretary due to his great experience over the years

He noted that with Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah as the General Secretary, hope would be restored to the people, especially the grass-roots of the party.

Mr. Brass Dedzo noted that there are a lot of issues that need to be addressed and they believe that Elvis is the only candidate to address such issues.

He appealed to the aspirant to make sure that all party offices are given facelifts or have new offices built to ensure smooth administrative work by the executives and officers.

“In my view, if the leadership is working tirelessly, they must be looking at the structures in which the parties are operating. I’m talking of the party offices. By now we should have removed a lot of our offices from the rented houses to our own party offices, but I am sure Elvis will work on it,” he said.

He noted that there is a need for the party to have a stronger General Secretary who can continue with the good works of the outgoing one and work even better to restore hope to the party.

Mr. Dedzo noted that the time has come for a change in the executives for a brighter future for the NDC.
