Four persons have become the latest casualties of the coronavirus pandemic in Ghana as the country’s case count continues to rise.
From 4,012 on Friday, Ghana’s total confirmed cases of the viral disease reached 4,263 on Saturday.
A total of 378 persons have recovered, leaving the active cases being managed by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) at 3,863.
It is unclear what accounted for the latest 251 cases, the majority of which were recorded in the Greater Accra Region.
But the Service indicated on its portal that about 3,858 of the patients are responding well to treatment in facilities and homes with the rest in critical condition or moderately ill.
So far, the confirmed cases come from a total of 155,201 tests done.
The latest development is expected to inform a decision by the president on Sunday, May 10 as regards whether or not to extend the ban on social gathering or re-introduce a partial lockdown or, still, impose a lockdown as per the Imposition of Restrictions Act, Act 1012.
Ghanaians have been admonished to take seriously the wearing of nose masks as all public and private institutions have been urged to enforce a ‘No mask, No entry’ directive.
Ghana first confirmed its two cases of coronavirus on Thursday, March 12.
