It was a special celebration of mothers on Onua TV as the world threw the spotlight on mothers on Sunday, May 10.
On such a pivotal day, the fastest growing local television channel in Ghana – Onua TV – cooked up an impressive appreciation show to highlight and celebrate mothers.
Mother’s Day is a celebration honouring the mother of the family as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society.
The day is celebrated on different days in some parts of the world.
The ‘Maame Mo’ show, hosted by Bright Kwesi Asempa and Adwoa Konadu Yiadom, saw some known faces in the Ghanaian entertainment and media space take the stage with their mothers to sing for them and thank them for their love and care for them over the years.
Backed by a live band, personalities like Onua FM presenter Frimpong Agyei Christian, Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service Superintendent Sheila Abeyie-Buckman, gospel musician Celestine Donkor, Dr. Prekese, and others performed for their mothers.
There was a special birthday for Celestine Donkor’s mother, Mrs. Hanna Akakpo, who turned 76 on the day.
The mother-and-child time on stage came with some tears and emotional moments too.
The ‘Maame Mo’ show was interspersed with insightful interviews with some mothers and their selfless sacrifices for their families.
There were dedications to mothers and lots of giveaways too.
