The President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, on Sunday evening arrived in Ghana for a three-day state visit.
He was met on arrival at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) by Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and the German Ambassador to Ghana, Frederik Landshöft.
President Steinmeier, accompanied by a high-level delegation, is scheduled to hold high-level meetings with his host President, John Dramani Mahama, on Monday, November 3 at the Jubilee House in Accra.
The official programme will commence on Monday with President Steinmeier’s inspection of a full military Guard of Honour at the Forecourt of The Presidency.
Together President Mahama, he will hold a closed-door meeting before joining their respective delegations for bilateral talks in the Credentials Room.
The discussions are expected to focus on strengthening Ghana-Germany relations, particularly in areas of trade, investment, technology, and development cooperation.
A State Luncheon will be held in his honour at the Presidential Banquet Hall in the afternoon. He will be joined by members of his delegation.
On Tuesday, President Steinmeier will travel to Kumasi where he is scheduled to meet the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
He is also scheduled to join other activities before his departure on Tuesday evening.
