It was a chaotic scene at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina on Saturday as Katsina United played a 1-1 draw against Barau FC in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NFL).
After the hosts had taken the lead in the first half, the visitors fought hard to find the leveller with Number 10-shirted Nana Kwame Abraham in the thick of affairs.
The much-anticipated equaliser came for Maliya Boys in the 69th minute when Orji Kalu found the back of the net.
However, immediately after the goal, Katsina United fans invaded the pitch and in the ensuing melee slit the throat of Nana Abraham.
He was immediately replaced by Hillary Ekawu and the medics frantically attended to him and official Jabir Hassan, who was also at the receiving end of the pitch invasion.

Play later resumed but no more goals were scored.
The player and official are said to be alive and doing well.
