Families who lost relatives seeking to be recruited into the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) have been given the opportunity to present new relatives for consideration.
This opportunity to join the enlistment was given by President John Dramani Mahama.
Announcing this on Friday, November 14 when he visited the residence of one of the six victims in the Central Region, Deputy Defence Minister Ernest Brogya Gyamfi said the new relative to be nominated will join the recruitment process.
Last Wednesday’s stampede led to the loss of six lives after potential recruits surged in number at the El Wak Sports Stadium for the Greater Accra Region screening.
President Mahama had instructed an immediate suspension of the process in the Region while calling for investigations.
The Military High Command has also set up a board of inquiry to look into the incident.
The process in the other regions will, however, continue unabated.
