Corporate Communications Manager at Karpowership Ghana Company Limited (KGCL) Sandra Amarquaye has been adjudged PR Professional Practitioner of the Year at the 2025 Institute of Public Relations (IPR) Ghana Excellence Awards, in recognition of her contribution to strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, corporate social responsibility (CSR) and reputation management.

The award adds to her impressive record of professional achievements, including being named Internal Communicator of the Year at the 2024 IPR Ghana Excellence Awards, recognised among the Top 10 Women in PR in Ghana in 2024, and receiving the Community Development and Relations Leadership Impact Award at the Sustainability and Social Investment Awards.

In 2021, she was named Sustainability and External Relations Champion at the Women in Mining and Energy Awards. She also received Karpowership’s Ace of Initiative award in 2018 for her innovative contributions to the organisation.

At Karpowership Ghana, Sandra contributes to corporate communications, media relations, stakeholder engagement and CSR initiatives, helping strengthen the company’s reputation and relationships with employees, institutional stakeholders and communities.

Her work reflects the strategic role of communication in building trust, supporting partnerships and communicating corporate responsibility and sustainability initiatives.

At the award ceremony, Karpowership was also recognised for Best in Crisis Communications, highlighting the company’s work in crisis communication and reputation management.

Ms Amarquaye credits her achievement to teamwork and the support of colleagues in Ghana and at Karpowership’s headquarters.

“This award is not just a personal achievement; it is a recognition I share with the entire Karpowership team. I am grateful to my supportive colleagues in Ghana and at our headquarters, whose collaboration and commitment make my work easier and contribute to our collective success. I remain committed to using strategic communication to build trust, strengthen partnerships and create meaningful value for our stakeholders and communities,” she said.

Before moving into corporate communications, Ms Amarquaye worked as an energy reporter and producer at TV3 Network Limited.

She is an accredited member of the Institute of Public Relations Ghana and holds two Master of Arts degrees in Public Relations and Media Management.

Her latest recognition marks another milestone in a career defined by professional growth, purposeful communication, stakeholder relationships and a commitment to excellence
